Hmmm....good one Mr. Bulk. But, this is quite weird; I just happen to be eating Lays potato chips right now and I was when I read your post..... :confused2: :dontknow:

i bring every damn light i own :-D.. and sometimes some i don't.. i will usually buiild uip a couple specially for the trip just like last year.

this year one of the 'specialty' lights will be the X990 which i plan to beam up into a disc or cone of white fabric to illuminate the area.. also a borrowed maxabeam.. what a light.. i love the pure white color and perfect circle of light.. really 'spots' out something up to 1/2 mile away.

When spotting deer we will use the X990 on constant power.. a mag85 for quick on/off spotting on the other side of the car (driver can handle one-handed)... the X900 does get a bit heavy after an hour whew.. but with the bat pack not attached on the maxabeam i can operate it with my left hand while flooding the area with the X990 and still 'spot' out a particular deer from 100-200 ft away.. it's amazing.

3-4 lioncubs to go around will be nice this year and a couple groovies.

oh.. we will have a couple BAM! protos it looks like those will probably be the biggest overall hit... there is a very good chance i'll have a 1D BAM!4 by laborday.

i'll have to take a picture of the spread of lights.

Sadly.. i don't think there are enough days and hours left to get the RT3000 operational by laborday.. maybe get the light lighting but not actually build the whole case and all.

I tend to take the HDS EDC XR as my EDC :)  I have an arc aaa-p rev 4 on my keys which stay with me at all times.

The a2 is close on hand (in bag, my girlfriend, family members, car). The mag85 stays in my bag or in the car depending on what I'm doing.

A sc-01 rides in my bag and some extra spares live in the car.

I find these sufficient for my needs:)

I got vacation coming up in a week and a half.  Still not sure where we are going..... Either Turkey, Bulgaria, or Greece.  I am starting to think about what I should take - a balance between everything and not wanting to get stuff stolen.  Right now it is looking like:

1) Bare Cub (primary EDC) with batts and a NANO
2) Eternalight Elite (not sure which one yet)
3) QIII (backup)
4) Infinity Ultra
??5) C2 with P91 and R123s??  Do I need a pocket cannon with me?  Opinions are welcome.
Dragon, Ti, and Classic Chammies, Blk, Bare, & Brass LCs, Blk & Bare LHs, X990, Rayzorlite, The Torch, Mag85, MagGH24, SF C3, C2, 6P, G2, & Winelights, Peak Caribbean, Pacific, McKinnleys, + more , Exolion Ti, Orb Raw NS, SS Gatlight, Eternalights, Nuwai QIII, Inova X5THAs, X1, ARCs, + more?

You might do what I did: brought a couple of low-level lights (Arc AA and Peak AA) for night reading.  Also, these would be less valuable if lost, stolen, or confiscated.

My trip to Oahu, I brought only my 2 PD's  :D.  Next time I go, I'll bring more lights to show off.

Peter, those are two honkin' babes, all right.   Still like the old clip better than the new clip.  Now you need a bare AL to go with your chromed and HA.

Thanks!  I wish I could get the bare AL, but I'm on lock down from the wifey on lights for this year.  :whip2: I did score me 2 HID lights thought :D, attached to my new car  :angel12:.  Ah, I love my wife.

Ok.. so the scroll didn't work properly so i broke into a separate post:

I realize you'll have to scroll to see the whole pic.. it's actually cropped to about 50% scale (started life as a 7MPx image)... but wanted to keep enough detail to see the smaller lights.

In any event, Tom came to visit me while i was camping on Sat and on Sun morning we spread out all the lights we brought with.. mind you.. he only brought 'his favorites'.. as well as me.. he was joking that we should have a contest to see if somebody can name them all. (but it's not really possible too many are custom lights).. like the little arc-aaa based nano in the middle front or the peak nano that is the 3-way model just to the left of it. Some of you will recognize 'the twin'... the only one in the world with a working driver. (from a lionheart... had to dremel off about 1/10th inch diameter to get it to fit!).

some of my favorites in this pile of lights:

  • Maxabeam: goes without saying… best 'beamer' that will 'practically' ever end up in a flashaholic's hands.
  • X990: what the MB does for spot.. this thing does for flood… with the TWO that Tom and I had with we could light up an entire soccer field for 280 minutes at night.
  • BAM!3: Purple 2C sized with white band… 3 UX1L with a 3-level switch.. latest prototype
  • CamoBAM!4: Camo looks like 3D mag… special mix of luxeons to achieve mag-85 'look n feel'
  • Tesla6: Red/Blue 1 1/2D fivemega host… 'the original'... SIX DD emitters run series-paralllel in IMS17s
  • BAM! the original: Red/silver 1 1/2D fivemega host… The very first BAM! prototype.. aka 'the RT4' http://bam.rouse.com
  • The Twin (aka Gemini): Looks like a double-barrel gun just a bit…first prototype with a working driver and it's awesome! 4000 lux on high with fresh cells! On low-beam.. God only knows how long it'd last.. easily over 100 hours!
  • Peak-based black/brass nano3… only 3-level AAA lux3 in the world far as i know... uses 'twistie' http://nano.rouse.com
  • arc-aaa based nat ano nano1... only one level but due to a 'fluke' emitter.. brightest one ever built.. about 130lux!

Well that's a heck of a collection... it took long enough to set them up and take pictures i have some pretty good sunburn on my head. Hope people enjoy our little flashlight museum... I'll let Tom jump in and tell the story of somebody with a 1Mcp light who regretted shining us from across the lake :D
