Need help understanding batteries
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:45:02 PM »
(Just became a member, thus the questions).

Santa knew me well and brought me a TK60 for Christmas.  I was interested in the TK41 for its size, etc, but he knew I'd like the 60 better as I'm a fan of the large D configuration for duration and potential weapon usage.   That said, I don't understand the power options very well. Looking for someone with more wisdom to shed some light ( :D ) on the matter.

Alkaline D batteries (which my TK60 now has 4) are fine but should never be left in for a long time, since they can leak.  That's too pricy of a torch to risk being damaged, no doubt. We've all had a Alkaline batts leak at a time or two.  So I need to move on.  Per Fenix's info pamphlet. the light can accept Alkaline or NiMi, but Lithium are listed as "not compatible".  Not sure I get why.

If I go to some NiMi will I still have the same brightness, as the light output is computer control (IC) or so I thought? Also, if I do go the NiMi route, is there a good, better and best brand out there to consider?  I'm not that worried about price as a one time purchase of batteries will last several years so, and  with my accountant mind I can easily amortize that cost over 365+ days and sleep at night.

Thoughts? Again, need to know my options for 4 D batteries for a TK60
