Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox Review
« on: June 20, 2011, 06:51:42 AM »

I purchased a Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox.

This is the box the LiteBox is packed in.

Comes with 120V 60Hz AC Charger and 12V DC Charge Cord.

A strap is included.

Uses what Streamlight calls  C4 Leds. They are Rebel Leds.

The wall mounting bracket is attached on the bottom.

The black switch below the handle towards the front is the light on switch. The switch is a reverse clickie.

There is a charging port towards the back bottom.

To release the wall mounting bracket press the rectangular button on the back and slide forward.

The is the wall mounting bracket. The wall mounting bracket comes with screws.

The Zero-maintenance 6V, 12Ah sealed lead acid battery. Rechargeable up to 500 times is installed at the bottom.

There is another charging port located on the back. This is where the wall mounting bracket connects the power to.

This is where the charging indication is located. Red for charging. Green for full charge. Streamlight recommends a 24 hour charge time for initial charge.

The strap installed.

A look under the LiteBox without the wall mounting bracket installed.

The head can be angled in many directions.

The LiteBox is set to the high position at the factory. If you want to set the LiteBox to low a Phillips Head screw at the back of the head needs to be loosened to remove the back cover. Then move a jumper to the "LO" side of the three pin header.

This is from the Streamlight website.

High 55,000 candela peak beam intensity; 540 lumens
Low 32,000 candela peak beam intensity; 330 lumens
Runtime:
High 7 hours to the 10% output level
Low 15 hours to the 10% output level

I measured with my Meterman LM631 fully charged:

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox 30,550 lux @ 1 meter

---------------------------------------------

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox @ 96"

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox @ 32'

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox @ 146' or 44.5 meters

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox @  210' or 64 meters

Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox @ various distances not listed.

---------------------------------------------

The Streamlight E-Spot LiteBox is an industrial-duty, rechargeable, portable lantern. It's heavy! I was surprised at it's weight.

It's rated IPX4 rated for water-resistance.

Made of High impact ABS thermoplastic housing.

The build quality is excellent. No issues noted at this time.

After I charged the battery I let the LiteBox sit for about 14 hours before I recharged the LiteBox for lux readings and beam shots. It went to green in less than a minute. I was surprised how short of a time it took recharge. This is my first lead acid battery light so I didn't know what to expect.

I was also surprised Rebel Leds are being used. On most of the newer led lights Streamlight is using are Cree's.

I didn't shoot any beam shots in low. It seems to much of a hassle to remove the back cover of the head and move a jumper.

I got the LiteBox from Optics Planet, Shipping was free. Cost was $128.24.
