Feedback system
« on: July 20, 2005, 05:03:04 AM »
I have enabled the feedback (karma) system.  It is a new feature and not very well developed.  I am hoping to use this as a type of "eBay feedback" system so people can instantly know whether a poster/seller is good or bad.

For now it's an open system.  Regular members with 10 posts can applaud or smite once an hour.  I'd like to see how far into the negative we can get Charlie  :naughty:

Have fun with it and don't take it personally if people are randomly smiting you.  It's all for fun right now.  Feedback totals will be wiped out later.  Probably when I can get the rest of the programming for this system to work the way i want it to.

Best regards,
Randy

Hey this is cool - just click on the left or right button under the poster's name - you are 3 for 3 right now (on the + side, of course)...

Come to think of it - can we enable this feature to be used on just some Forums?  Like in B/S/T?  That is one place in particular where I would want to leave, as well as assess, feedback...

Your evil plot is not working too well right now darkgear.  Charlie's only two down.  Of course he's the galactic commander so I dare not ... ;)

Interesting idea, but I see too many downsides so I'm not a fan.  If it was not anonymous I might warm up to the idea over time... some feature where you could enter a forum name and see who they gave feedback on and if it's +or-

i put a post elsewehre about this... if it was more obvious what it was.. and ahd better iconic representation.. i.e. thumb up and thumbdown. it is kinda a neat idea but way to easily to hit by accident.. i tried to hit 'smile' on charlie to counteract the negatives he had by one.. only realizing 1/2 a second later that it says smiTe. oops.. 'sorry charlie' :D

I have seen a system similar to this work very successfully on other forums. I think it is a great idea, it adds a little bit of reprecusion to any negatively or not thought out posts.

Yeah me too, maybe 'smite' should be changed to 'bash' or :violent1:

I think there needs to be some sort of report to see who gave you what...at least if you are getting dinged 20 times by the same person, its a little different than getting dinged by 20 different people.
