7.2Volt Bulb and 9v lithium ion powered Maglite 2D
« on: October 14, 2009, 11:23:36 PM »
I didn't see any thing on a moded 2D Maglite, so i did it myself. I used a 7.2 Volt bulb from radio shack and 3 surefire 3V Lithium Batteries. I had to make a tube to put the surefire batteries in then i had wires from the batteries to the spring on the switch at the top and the spring on the bottom cap. It works great and is way brighter than a regular 2d maglite.

A battery tube for the 2C maglite can be made from any handly household items, garden or radiator hose, PVC pipe, whatever is handy. Just cut the apporiate length, wrap each end in tape to make it a snug fit, and you're good to go. I find the 6 D cell magnum star xenon lamp to be the best lamp for running 3 CR123's, it's driven at the apporiate levels so it's reliable, cheap, and widely available.
