2 Lithium ions in parallel.
It's a pleasant thought. ;)
Yes, the runtime would be quite good done that way.

Great thread 3rd
Maybe this could be a sticky too?

Yesterday i finished building a 3 "D" cell Mag. On new Duracell Coppertops (Alkalines) i measured 2.3+amps. I also tried in a 4 "D" cell Mag and it drew 3.4+ amps. I also tried using depleted D's and it drew 700ma.

I used a Korean made anodized heat sink made for the P7 which would solve modifying one made for a P4.

The 4 emitters in a P7 is spaced like an Ostar and hard to get a clean spot like a P4 or even the older Lux V's. No converter needed so can save money on that.

I used this thread for two 3D P7 builds, direct drive, on Tenergy 10000mah batteries. I did the tailspring mod. I'm getting 2.8A at the tailcap.  Batteries putting out 3.84V at the emitter 3.43. The stock cutdown reflector puts out a hotspot with artifacts so I may try my hand at sputtering with clear acrylic spray as suggested on another forum. Here's the cost of the build:

3D Maglite $20
H22A Thailand anodized P4 heatsink $13.50
Tenergy batteries $24
Artic Alumina Epoxy
Wires
Solder

Not bad for less than $60.  I'll definitely make more!

I know this thread is a bit old but I have a question anyway as I am a newb.

1. Where exactly do you hook your meter leads to measure amps?

2. Running direct drive like this, how long will a charge last? If using alkaline batteries how long?
