Lanyards
« on: September 12, 2005, 01:46:00 AM »
So while browsing and buying my first decent flashlights ever from Johnny boy at Lighthound I happened across paracord and ordered some up (ive alrdy ordered more)

I wanted to try my hand at lanyard weaving and as John mentioned it is rather addictive.

Here is my latest one I have come to call "The Quadropus" seeing as it only has 4 tentacles~

The picture doesnt do it justice, its not blue its Purple and Grey. The ball woven into it is a steel marble that has been rolling around on my desk for about 3 years..finally found something to do with it.

If you notice there is a spiral pattern at the end near the tentacles, this gives it a clyndrical feel and i plan on using that on the next ones. Very rope like. be nice the entire length

Im going to give it to the wifey because her key ring only weights 2LBs and needs more weight...

I ordered these brass balls i found and Im going to make a stubbie version called "The Lions Mane" for my LC hehe =)

If you wove that steel ball nearer the end you'd have a handy keychain-mounted - "persuader"...heh heh. :naughty:

I think it's a hunter/gatherer thing. I'm a hunter, meaning just all thumbs trying to do this kind of thing. But I won't finish the rest of the equation out of respect for the manly-men (that the gatherers/weavers could - and I mean could - still well be)...:naughty: :laughing11: :evil6:

As much as I truly hate to stick up for Charlie (especially when it concerns his purse) I must stick up for him this time.  He did say he had a black purse. per the quote below.  However he DID NOT DISPUTE THAT HE HAS TULIPS AND "OTHER" FLOWERS ON THE FLAP.   Just like a weed your "purse" just never seems to die :icon_jokercolor:

Doug

Hey!  You there!  Doug!!! >:(

Now I would just like to make it absolutely clear that my purs - uh - MAN pur - er - MANLY BAG, is NOT pink!!!

It's BLACK, ya hear me?

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!  ;D ;D ;D

but you're not disputing the tulips on front.... :booty: or do they look like these flowers-->:icon_flower: :toothy4:

Haha :D Sometime I have to show you guys my mint green leisure suit.

Shade, try this for fun, 1 strand by 2, or 1x4, or 4x4 (or any other combo) for a really mind-numbing lanyard. Twist them!

This got me through a summer of camp, except when I was shooting the little .22s...

Here is another idea im working on. battery carrying lanyard. works pretty good battery stays put pretty good unless needed. then simply pop in a new one. I am gunna make one alittle bit shorter so the lanyard isnt longer then these smaller flashlights. I call this one "Seed" in Grape. Other colors would be "Seed" Apple(green) "Seed" Cherry(red) etc etc hehe

Cool stuff Mut, i especially like the red white and blue one on the far right of the pics.

I have become addicted to the hangmans noose lanyard lately, seen below on cubbie.

its easy to tie, you dont ruin the paracord by hollowing it out and you have acess almost instantly to over 3ft of very very strong rope if needed. good for knives, flashlights keys anything you may have on you.

--------------------------------------------

just saw you have a sebenza so you alrdy know all about this knot too =)

Thanks Shades.
You can also do a 42 knote bracelet. It takes about 80 inches or so depending on your wrist. You don't hollow out the cord and a lot there for when you need it.

Here is a pic of one I made for one of my boys.

You can also make a lanyard or keychain from this knot.

The red, white and blue one is pretty cool.  It took me a while to figure out how to do it.  I am sure there is a better way, but I got it done my way.  The hangman is a great one too.

I have a pretty basic lanyard question. I have had a Surefire Z50 lanyard in its original bag for awhile. I decided to take it out tonight to try it out on my E1E. There are three basic parts - the parachute cord lanyard, a clip, and a split ring. The clip is supposed to be on the lanyard, and the split ring connects the clip to the E1E clip. The problem is that when I opened the sealed package, the split ring is on the lanyard where the clip should be, but the clip was loose in the package. I am assuming that I have to do something with the lanyard terminator to take it apart, slide the clip onto the lanyard, and then put it back together again. But I'm not having any luck getting the lanyard terminator apart. I don't want to force it too hard, for fear that I'll break it.

Any ideas on how to get the clip onto the lanyard? I have an e-mail in to Surefire support, but I'm not holding my breath. Thanks!
