Alex...I'll try to give a more satisfactory answer to each of your questions :)

Welcome back :D

The pill/module drops in from the bezel side of the head, you are correct, the pill/module is not threaded.  The reflector and the lens hold the pill/module in place.

The driver I was using for this style 1AA light is no longer available (at least not in 3 or 4 levels of brightness), and I don't like drivers with extra functions.....functions that I'll probably not use.  The few lights that I completed, I sold for $450.

I have some, but very limited experience turning/machining stainless steel, but I did find that it's more difficult to work with than Ti...This is just my experience with the stuff.

FWIW, I haven't made lights, or parts for the past three months...Too much other stuff going on, not exactly sure when I'll get back in the shop.  I did modify a 6 flute Ti PD to accept a different LE, and I also repaired a Ra Ti light, but that is about all I have worked on this past quarter year.

Sincerely,
Scott

Let's put it this way: I know it was either Goatee's or Chronos'.   ;)

Funny.  How do you repair a light and not notice the serial number?   What kind of repair did you make?

Well, it really didn't qualify as a repair...The owner didn't know how to replace the battery, so I offered to help...Figured it must have been your light, then I received an email informing me that the light was actually #1003, with a different bezel in place.
