GATLIGHT V3 NOW IN STOCK
--------------------------
First some photos... than very detailed specs:

Light source: Premium bin LED selected for brightness and color tint (pure white) rated at 240+ Lumen by manufacturer. However the real Lumen output is lower - our guess is around 130-150 Lumen.

Optics: Circular Narrow Beam Optic with half angle divergence of only 6 degrees.

Brightness Regulation: Proprietary regulation circuitry maintains constant light level as battery voltage drops.

Materials: The metal parts of this light are made of 6AL-4V (grade 5) Titanium – an aerospace alloy many times stronger than the more commonly used grade 2 titanium found in jewelry. The thread of the back knob is sintered bronze, a self lubricating alloy to prevent galling (thread locking) often found with titanium threads. The battery tube is made of light weight carbon fiber composites with a ground & varnished 4x4 twill weave cosmetic layer.
Gold plated contacts for minimum electrical resistance and corrosion protection.
The black Tuxedo GatLights have 6AL-4V titanium bars and the same carbon fiber battery tube. The black parts are aircraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum with a black hard anodize per MIL-A-8625, Type III to protect the light. All masked-non anodized AL surfaces are processed to MIL-DTL-5541 Class 3, to provide corrosion protection.

Machining: High precision components with <0.0005’’ (0.01mm) tolerance. Machining surface finish of less than 4 Ra

Number of parts: Each GatLight consists of over 80 parts. 42 parts are custom machined metal parts. The 24 screws are custom made on high end Swiss screw machines, since stock screws did not meat the quality demands for this light.

Serial Numbers: Each GatLight contains a unique laser marked serial number showcasing  the limited production of this product.

Operating Life LED: 100,000h (11 years)

Dimensions: 3.5’’ x 1.125’’

Battery: 3V CR123 Primary Lithium. To replace battery simply unscrew the knob in the back.

User Interface: Push button switch with momentary functionality and a rotary knob to adjust brightness.

Low Battery Indication: When set to full brightness flashlight maintains constant brightness level. When full brightness can’t be maintained anymore (battery low) brightness level drops. After a while the light will begin to strobe – indicating that battery needs to be replaced. After a while the strobe stops and the light can still be used at a very low brightness level for about an hour – until the 123 battery is fully depleted.

Multi Brightness Levels: Unlimited regulated brightness levels are available by turning the knob in the back allowing either maximum brightness or maximum runtime or any setting in between.

Water Sealing: The light is designed and built to be fully submersible – however individual units have not been tested by submersion. As a result the official rating is “water resistant”.

Assembly: Each GatLight is carefully hand assembled by skilled aerospace technicians from over 80 parts.

Heat sinking: Design provides maximized thermal efficiency by maximizing exposed surface area. Solid Copper core LED board maximizes thermal dissipation. LED is mounted to circuit board using high performance thermal epoxy commonly used in spaceflight applications.

Accessories: Each GatLight comes with an attractive solid wood display box with a bronzed Lumencraft logo.

Price: $395 TI version / $375 Tux version

Hmmm, is this the one where you turn the endcap to vary the dimming?  Or is that the V2?

The V3's output varies by turning the knob on the tailcap.  There is an on/off clickie in the middle of that knob.

For people like me who hates clicking through an endless number of output levels to get to "off" or to a reason output level the Gatlight solution is excellent.

The user interface in the V3 is pretty neat. Very very simple.... it was always our goal to build a light you can leave in a drawer and if your grandma has to pick it up in an emergency she should be able to turn it on.
The V2 already had a first version of the variable brightness control, just without the clicky knob.
In the next days I will post a lot more details and photos regarding this light.

Also we'll we move threads from the old place over to the new one. By the way we also have a photo and photoshop competition we'll be moving over here. Just give us a couple of days to get all setup here.

Its staggering the engineering that goes into these.   Those pics are awesome, those make me feel like I'm still taking my pics with one of those old cameras with the disposable cube flashes on top!  :rolleye:

Thanks for posting those up, Mobile1.

Those are some great pictures - I am surprised that we haven't seen anything from Cones - of course I haven't seen him around lately...

Firstly, I love my V3 Tux, very beautiful, unique and useful piece of art, tool and conversation piece.

AND

Welcome to the bright side of the universe.

At the risk of being cut off I'd love to see what a collaboration of creative genius could be created here.

Cheers,

Mike
