On an unrelated note, who are those chicks in your avatars, Lips & Eric?  I forgot their names from the other night.

Lips is Brooke Burke, IIRC.

Mine is Pilar Lastra, former Playmate who's acquaintance I made at Shot Show.

There has been very little to pique my interest in the lighting world, but I return... in time to see this - and I am impressed. These are the words you don't hear from me very often. I am thinking "Fast Food Light: USL To Go". Very nice.

What's the runtime on this monster? I am guessing 10 minutes like USL.

Couple of other Qs: Does the smart charger take 240VAC?

.......and what's the price tag?

Kevin I agree, slap it in a charger and go (or plug it in). I hope this is the way these types of lights move to.

The run-time is the same as the regular Torch which is 10 -12 minutes. (not sure)

I believe the smart charger does do 240v AC with no problem.

The price was less than $350 total but this was more of a concept light and there are cheaper ways of getting a charging solution than this light. The HAIII of the MagCharger is nice to have though...  Mac can really churn out the products. We need to replicate him somehow, or maybe ship him a damn secretary. I believe he even has a real job and puts out all these lights, WOW...

$350 is actually REASONABLE considering the amount of engineering required in this case. USL owners will recall their lights being in this ballpark, plus an optional Triton charger. This solution is all the power of the USL plus charging solution. I want the MC because of the charge-in-place (CIP) capability - for frequently used lights it simplifies things a lot. I'm somewhat frustrated by the cost of some of the new custom stuff coming out.. I'm reasonable, but I'm not willing to pay sky high prices if I don't feel like I'm getting something. $350 is definitely worthwhile given the amount of work involved. I'm trying to think of a custom setup that I might like done for me.. maybe Mag85 CIP.

The argument used by anti-CIP advocates is that "What happens if you're stuck and run out of power, your light is useless till it charges" - well, I'm a flashaholic, and I believe the original term for it on CPF was "New York Reload" - toss the light, grab another fully loaded and ready to light ;)

As a flashaholic we will always have sufficient lights available..
