Or, you could check out Brightguy (no affiliation) as they have a pretty good selection and seem to have most in stock.

Okay, that definitely narrows down the choices!

Color rendition is important.

This is going to be the most problematic to gauge as everyone perceives colors slightly differently.  In most cases though, if you put enough light of a fairly neutral tint on the scene, you will get reasonably good rendition.

Plastic body is important.

You can look to the Pelican or Underwater Kinetics (UK) line of lights.  They both have a few models with LEDs, plastic bodies, and take AAs.

The only way to tell if a light works out for you is to use it.  For me (and some others), it seems that LEDs have the most trouble rendering purples and violets correctly, but do give a nice boost to flourescents and neons.

Hi Guido,

Welcome to FF!

If you let us know what you would be using the light for (i.e. distance, how much light is needed, etc.) we could chime in with some suggestions.

BORN AND RAISED!  Unfortunately, I think I'm being priced out of my own home like so many other locals.  It's sad that even with a good salary, I can't even afford land.  For those who have never been to Hawaii, the average median price for a single family home is $625,000.  By far, the highest in the country.  So I'm currently in the process of perhaps making the Pacific Northwest my future home  :'(

I know how you feel my brother!  I was lucky to get into a house before the craziness.

BTW, sorry for the OT in your thread!!!!!  I should know better!

Killer review!

OT, did you get any complaints from the neighbors after their houses were blasted with the PH50?  :p

If you are sticking with Fenix, I'd look at the larger 2 cell version of the Fenix light (P3d?) as I understand it is the same diameter as the P2d, but is a bit longer to accommodate the extra cell.  Same UI, brighter, longer burn time, and just a little bit longer.

BTW, I'm not a big fan of the multi-click/twist type lights for use in stressful situations.  Too many things I need to keep tabs on.  I like my light to put out max lumens when I mash down on the button and not have to worry about cycling through to get to the right level.

Maybe something like the Surefire E1B?  Their 80 lumen rating is pretty conservative from what I can gather.
