Looking for a brass CM from the run Charlie made awhile back.

Would also like to buy a bare Al 168A tube made by Otokoyama for the lioncubs.

In the $50 to $60 range the Dereelight C2H RD sounds like it would would meet your requirements.  No personal experiece with it but it looks pretty bright in the reviews I've seen.

Aside from Surefire, I think most of the 1x123 sized lights coming out now are setup for li-ion rechargeables.

No reset command that I'm aware of, but the SF123 is probably the culprit.  I don't think primaries don't have enough juice...do you have any lithium ion rechargeable 123s?  They run at about 4.2V off the charger and when you pop one in the difference will be night and day.  8)

Should definitely be 5 levels.

The problem might be with the current table it's set to (R123s won't be able to handle level 5 brightness on current table 5 for very long or at all).  Try setting it to current table 3 to see if you get all 5 levels.

Those Randalls are cool, but like reg said that wait is a killer.  If 5 years is too long you can find them on the secondary market for a premium.

I agree that the buckmaster sounds overpriced even if it's pristine unless it's a rare model or something, but if you're thinking of paying that much for a buckmaster the CRK one piece hollow handles are worth a look.

I hadn't heard of anyone other than Lile doing custom hollow handles, but it'd be interesting to see a modern take.

I only see 1 pic too, but it's a nice looking light.  I've been thinking of doing a glowpaint mod.  Is that the paint on the outside and inside of the bezel?
I took the light apart and painted right around the emitter let it dry and put it back together. the glow paint lasts all night! cool stuff.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to give that a try one of these days.

Congrats dude!  Hope you guys are together for a long time.

I'd like to offer my belated condolences as well...I've always loved looking at those pics you posted of Max over the years and reading your account of how he went was absolutely heart breaking.  My heart goes out to you, bro.
