Garage Sale / Emerson Commander BTS for sale
« on: November 24, 2012, 05:06:41 AM »
Time to sell a very slightly carried Emerson Commander BTS.  This is a great blade, with super positive lock up.  I'm asking $150 plus shipping; first PM or email takes priority.  Money order or Paypal accepted.  The Emerson website indicates the following:

The Emerson Commander is the winner of the "Best Overall Knife of the Year" at the International Blade Show in Atlanta, GA. The Blade Show is the world's largest cutlery showcase and is the cutlery industry's premier event. This award is judged by fellow manufacturers and is the highest honor and most sought after award in the cutlery industry.

The Emerson Commander is a 21st century combination of design, materials, performance, and razor sharpness. This knife along with other Emerson Knives, sets the new standard for the cutlery industry and continues to push the design and performance envelope for cutting tools well into the 21st century.

The Commander knife-battle tested and proven-incorporates some of the most advanced ergonomics ever featured on a folding knife. The knife, already in use with elite armed forces, European Military strike teams and NATO Counter-Terrorist units throughout the world was chosen by the U.S. Navy SEAL teams for issue to special units within the Naval Special Forces Units. Because of its ruggedness, it has become a favorite of hunters, outdoorsmen and adventurers the world over. It features the patented "wave shaped opening feature" with Dragon's Teeth™ serrations.

Thanks for looking!

General Flashlight Discussion / Surefire Saint Minimus???

Flashlight Components / Dead battery pack--need help & FAST!
« on: September 22, 2009, 06:40:41 AM »
Hey all!

I was excited for my first night ride tonight (bicycle).  Charged up the 13.2V NiMH water bottle battery last night & rode to the gym tonight.  ~2020 hrs & it was dark for my ride home.  Power up the lights & within 5 minutes, nothing as the one lamp I had running went down--huge bummer.

I have a big night ride planned for the end of October & need a fully functioning lighting system.  I really do not want (cannot afford) to spend $205 from Jet for a new battery system.  I suspect that in the bottle is bundled a number of C or D-cell sized batteries.

Which forum member might be able to hook me up with the correct batteries?  I am hoping I could send the bottle to them for "repair."

--This is what I have:
--I had not used the battery since the early spring.
--I did charge it before I put it away.
--It has seen a bunch of charge cycles, and is probably 5 years old (or more).

Thanks for your help!

The snow in and around Lake Tahoe is epic right now.

I have 9 lift tickets for Alpine Meadows Ski Area ( which I would trade for a nice light, or knife, or...  They can be used any day for the remainder of this season (I expect that to go thru Memorial Day).

Short fuse on this one...  A coworker's sister was deployed to Iraq in October.  We would like to send a care package her way.  You know what I know, I have not even met this coworker yet, but was wondering what folks thought might be a good care package item(s).

Welcome and Introductions / Avatar--revisited
« on: February 09, 2007, 05:44:58 AM »
Greetings all--yeah, I'm back after a long absence; and I've missed you all--REALLY!

I just added an upgraded Exolion Ti (THANKS Fishman!!!) to the collection.  It's a great EDC, so stealthy, it just disappears in my pocket.

Remember way back when (March '06) when I battled to get my Avatar to work???  It was Magnus the mountain goat.  I'm not sure what happened, but when I returned a couple of weeks or so ago, I noticed Magnus was gone!  I have posted him here:

AND I pasted that link into my profile, however, he does not appear   :(  Help please!

I know there will be no shortage of opinions here!   :D

A friend is tasked by her employer to prepare an "emergency" kit; one for her automobile, the other to be kept in her office.  She is a P.E. that works for a local water district.  This bag would accompany her on all field visits (emergency or not).  I thought the following items would fit the bill, but wanted to see what other items you might include...

Specifically, I want your opinions on a flashlight & multi-tool.  Flashlight price must be less than $100, built for abuse, not large, operate on readily available batteries (I'm thinking AA's or 123's), I'm also recommending LED over incan; she's also asking for variable output.  Brightness--I'm thinking at least 35 lumens at hi-power.  What do you like?

Regarding the multi-tool, price would also need to be less than $100 & not necessarily a full-sized unit.

The remainder of the kit:
-Basic first aid kit
-Bug spray
-Food (I'm thinking along the lines of PowerBars--something small, relatively non-perishable & calorie-packing)
-Fox 40 whistle
-Gloves (one pair leather, other rubber)
-Hard hat
-Headlamp (I suggested the Petzl Tikka XP, of course)
-Hearing protection (a number of disposable type)
-Safety glasses (one set clear, other tinted)
-Spare light batteries
-Spare Nextel battery
-Full water bottle(s)
-Work boots
-Technu (poison oak/ivy scrub)

Thanks for your input ahead of time!  I hope this passes for a "General Flashlight Discussion" topic...

Other Gear / Firearm light recommendation?
« on: April 14, 2006, 12:56:27 AM »

I just picked up a new toy (Ruger Mini-14) and wanted recommendations for a light.  I want to keep the price down.  It is equipped with a picatinny railed adapter (Holster Plus).  Anyone have experience or comment on the Glock "Safe action" Tactical Light?  Evil Bay price is less than $100, others???

Oh wait, guess I should not be so close-minded, right?  The images shown are quite lame, maybe they need some help from FF members.

Garage Sale / FS: Emmerson Commander BTS
« on: February 20, 2006, 02:57:30 AM »
I must part with this mighty folder.

I purchased it some time ago for use as an EDC, however, it did not work out for me.  It was carried for ~3 months & has seen NO hard use.  Need to make way for other sharp, bright & shiny things  ;)

I am asking $120 + shipping.
