Suggestion Box / Hello Kitty Theme
« on: October 05, 2012, 12:15:55 AM »
I know this has been asked before, but I still think a Hello Kitty theme for the forum is called for. After all the work that Regentag did to create the templates, and PSM's insistence on a color for the theme, and EricMack's temper tantrums, isn't it time to finally implement this?

Who's with me?

Lights Buy/Sell/Trade / SPF: milkyspit Creemator package!
« on: May 29, 2008, 03:46:14 AM »
Due to a pending purchase I've decided to sell my milkyspit Creemator.

Milky modded E1L CREEMATOR. The light is only about three months old and in great condition. It puts out a wonderful beam, with a good throw and very bright spill. My preference is to have a light that I can use when hiking, and this is about the best I've owned! Multi-level, very usable beam, with a great warm tint that is the best for color rendition in an LED.

It’s sporting a CREE Q5, emitting the most beautiful creamy, white beam I’ve seen. The optic was removed and replaced with a McR19-XR reflector. The lens is UCL. The electronics have been replaced with the AcornDx867 (v.7.11.30.01) driver and firmware. It puts out 4 levels of brightness….from a low of 3 lumen up to a scorching 180+ lumens... 180+ lumens coming from a tiny little light that you can almost hide in your hand. It uses 1 x 3.7v Li-Ion rechargeable or two 3v Lithium primaries. The HA nat KL1 has two small nicks in the HA at the base where it attaches to the flashlight body- it was received this way. The E1L body is 95+%. The clicky HA nat tailcap is 95+%. No nicks in either. The color matching is the best I've seen.

But wait! There's MORE!

I'm including:
- E2E HA nat body, capable of swallowing AW protected 17670s (95+%)
- E2E incan bezel (some nicks in HA, as shown in pics below)
- E2E clicky tailcap (some nicks in HA, as shown in pics below)
- LumensFactory E0-E1R bulb with less than 5 mins runtime

This means you can play "SureFire lego" at will. Run the E0-E1R in the E2E body and head with a 17670 and have a 90 bulb lumen incan! Run the KX1 head on the E1L body and have a pocket rocket! Or swap them out at will for a mix-and-match approach to personal illumination.

Price: US$275 shipped via USPS Priority Mail, uninsured to US residents. I will ship overseas, at cost. Insurance can be provided if requested, at cost. I'll accept Paypal with NO FEES to you. No cells are included in this offer. No waiting for a build, no additional expenses of the E2E body, E0-E1R, etc. This is really a good deal. I paid $250 for the KX1/E1L alone 2 months ago. Paypal to: kimo123 at hotmail dot com. (The Anso necker will be sold separately on the CPF Marketplace).

I have the original packaging and milkyspit tape. Since I'm at the shore, and those items are at my home, I'll send them separately at my expense (standard mail).

First "I'll Take It" posting here wins. Please PM me, as well. If you claim "I'll Take It" I expect payment within 24 hours. If no payment nor communication is received, it will go to the next in line. This will not contribute to global warming nor cooling. This offer is void where prohibited. No whales were injured in the creation of this ad. I did graduate high school, as a matter of fact. Yes, I do enjoy walks on the beach under the light of the moon. Please remember: Enjoy life, eat out more often.

Garage Sale / SOLD: A little Anso goodness...
« on: May 29, 2008, 01:44:26 AM »
Up for sale is my Anso necker made of RWL-34. It includes an orange Kydex neck sheath. Has kydex marks, but is razor sharp and only used once to help open a bottle of champagne (don't ask...).

This is a hard-to-find custom necker from one of the fastest rising stars in knifemaking. I haven't seen any new Anso neckers for sale in at least a year, and he has a 6+ month waiting list for his custom folders.

Price: US$115 shipped via USPS Priority Mail, uninsured to US residents. I will ship overseas, at cost. Insurance can be provided if requested, at cost. I'll accept Paypal with NO FEES to you. No cells are included in this offer.  Paypal to: kimo123 at hotmail dot com.

I'd like to learn more about the blockade... http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/04/30/palace.takeover/index.html

Short excerpt below:

" Native Hawaiians blockade historic palace

    * Story Highlights
    * Group does not recognize Hawaii as a U.S. state
    * Palace used by rulers of Hawaiian kingdom; now a tourist attraction
    * Peaceful protesters eventually unlock gates, stay on palace grounds
    * Next Article in U.S. »

(CNN) -- A group of native Hawaiians occupied the grounds of the old Hawaiian monarchy's royal residence Wednesday, vowing to stay and do the business of the kingdom's government.

"It is through a greater realm than ours" that the group took this action, said Mahealani Kahau, elected leader of the group, called Hawaiian Kingdom Government. "Today and every day, we will be here to assume our role."

 The group is one of several in Hawaii that reject statehood and seek to return to the constitutional monarchy that effectively ended in 1893 when a group of politicians, businessmen and sugar planters -- aided by the U.S. minister to Hawaii -- overthrew the kingdom's government.

The monarchist groups say the kingdom was overthrown and annexed into the United States illegally."

Other Gear / Guns, Lights, and Blades...
« on: April 19, 2008, 02:12:11 AM »
Mrs. Chronos is out with friends tonight so I thought I'd take a few pics of some of my toys. Sorry about the quality of the pics- I managed to leave the good camera at the beach house. Oh well.

I thought I'd open the old safe and clean some pistols. I hope no one minds a few pics of guns, lights and blades (ok, I left all but a couple of blades upstairs... sigh). :)  Let's see how many can ID the pistols: manufacturer and model. ;)

Let's see what you've got in your collection!

LED Mods / milkyspit Kromagnum- Kroma On Steroids!
« on: April 19, 2008, 01:56:45 AM »
Around eighteen months ago I traded my SF Kroma to milkyspit for another modded light. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that he still had my Kroma, but had modded it lightly... by adding a Seoul P4. Before you can say "Red-White-Blue LEDs" I arranged to purchase it back. It is dubbed the "Kromagnum."

The Seoul transplant completely changes the Kroma's "personality." It now puts out somewhere in the region of 200 lumens (my estimate), and the optic works wonderfully with the new LED. milkyspit mentioned that he shimmed the LED for the optimum focus, and it worked. The beam pattern is white and at a distance of 20'+ it is broad and bright, something of a wall of light (very little hot spot, with a nice even, bright spill). The low is still quite low, almost ideal for use when walking or hiking. The colored LEDs work as before, with a low/high blue and red.

This is an early Kroma and sports a "Patent Pending" body. Kind of neat. A long time ago I added an M2 rubber grip, and milkyspit added an OregonShooter tactical tailguard.

Here are a couple of (bad) pics (my good camera is at my other house) of it alongside a few other toys. I've also included a couple of backyard beamshots to compare it to a 240 or so lumen milkyspit CreeMator.

Mr. Bulk / MR Bulk Lego? :)
« on: April 09, 2008, 09:36:08 PM »
For grins I picked up a slim Chameleon battery tube from LightHound. Sure 'nuff, the little guy fits my DragonHeart. Now I assume I can run a protected 123 and have a shorter light to boot! It is currently anodized silver, so with a little paint and clearcoat it should be a decent color match to the rest of the light.

Also gives something of a cigar grip if/when needed. Interesting. :thumbup:

Mr. Bulk / Oh no- missing switch cover on my Dragonheart... :(
« on: March 27, 2008, 09:47:19 PM »
I'm at the Atlanta airport awaiting my Delta flight home to be canceled. I reach into my sport coat pocket and pull out my beloved Dragonheart. The red switch cover is missing! It isn't in my pocket, where the DH has resided all week long.

Does anyone know if there are any easy to find replacements? And how to install one?

Many thanks!!! :( >:(  :angry9: :angryfire: :cussing: :crybaby2:

LED Mods / New Toy: My milkyspit "Creemator"
« on: February 16, 2008, 08:52:13 PM »
After building my new "Chrononster II," a modified Magilite with 4 Seoul LEDs cranking out around 800 lumens, I decided it was time for a pocket rocket. So I picked up a milkyspit "Creemator:"

- Runs on 1xr123 or 2x123 primaries (including 17670s and 18650s)
- Uses his custom Acorn driver with four lighting levels from his "Gotham"
- One Q5 Cree XRE
- In a modified HA natural KX1 Surefire head
- UCL window
- McR19-XR reflector

On high this little puppy puts out around 240 lumens! With the McR19-XR reflector the beam is smooth and buttery, and the tint is slightly warm (my preference).

The Acorn driver is a marvel, providing four lighting levels with two UIs: Tactical (when first turned on, it defaults to the High setting) and General (which presets to the last used lighting level). From his specs the lighting levels are:

    * Max (a.k.a. High): 900mA
    * Medium: 270mA
    * Low: 54mA
    * Ultralow: 2.3mA

Since the Acorn driver utilizes his custom code, I can send the light in for firmware updates whenever needed or wanted. I understand that on Ultralow the light can run for over a month...

I am currently running the Creemator on a HA nat Surefire E2E body as it provides me more runtime on 2x123 or on a 17670. Next up will likely be a Leef or Mirage Man custom 18650 E-series compatible body.

The beam is a wonderful mix of bright throw and spill, almost ideal for outdoor use. When I run it with a R123 (unprotected) cell, on high, it easily puts out 2-3 times the output of my E1B "Backup!"

It is fun to see what can be done to "push the envelope" regarding flashlights. To have a light that can crank out well over 200 lumens on one cell, in full regulation, is amazing. Throw in four separate light levels, two UIs... Wow. This is a killer pocket rocket.

Here it is attached to a 2x123 Surefire E2E body:

This is a shot with it on a 1x123 Surefire E1L body, alongside a E1B and E1E w/ KL1:

I'm selling the following

New Strider SnG (Gen VI with Hinderer) tanto blade (tiger stripes) and coyote brown G10. Never cut anything (other than my thumb... five stitches later). There is a pinhead-sized nick in the flamed Ti from the drop when the tip was embedded in my thumb... ;), original edge (never sharpened). It has been sitting on a shelf. It has what I understand to be the "new" Ti flaming job- tighter flamed stripes, and darker as well.

This little beauty deserves a better life. Buy it and take it outside for a walk or hike. Use it to cut down a tree. Keep in mind the proven facts that it increases your height by two inches and your IQ by 10 points. Also includes Strider's lifetime warranty and services.

$350 SOLD shipped to US via USPS Priority Mail. Insurance is extra (suggested) and charged at cost. Overseas is fine, shipping charged at cost.

I accept Paypal, no charges to you.

First unconditional "I'll Take It" wins.
