Welcome and Introductions / Re: Forum back up 2017 Nice!
« on: March 18, 2017, 10:01:57 PM »

Or should I say hello again? It's been a long while since I've visited the online flashlight community. I'll look around over the next few days to see what's new. Not much in the Mr. Bulk section of recent. I hope he's okay.

Still have all my lights and a few new ones as well!

I take it this applies to using them in the light itself? I do use them to charge the batteries in the Orb Raw and Raw NS in the Nano chargers.

LED advantage is that the LED lasts much longer than a typical bulb. As to what 7 LED means, I haven't gone to the link, but it most likely indicates the light uses 7 different LEDs in it. They are probably the smaller Nichia type LEDs.

What I like most about LEDs flashlights is the ability of them to have variable brightness. Lower levels of light are great for saving on the battery life and not having as much of an effect on the dark adapted eyes.

Lumes are just one way to measure the brightness of a light, candlepower is another common method, as is lux.

Again, I haven't gone to the link for the light in question, so I don't know about the battery capacity of it. It could come in handy in an emergency to be able to give your cell phone some power from the light, but how much power it has to give to the phone and then left over for the light's use would be a factor to me. Still nice to have the option. I personally prefer a light with one the more advanced LEDs that one that has several smaller LEDs.

As to cost, you basicly get what you pay for. My first Luxeon light was about a hundred dollars, and that seemed like buying a Cadillac at the time. But it has been a good light. There are so many reasons people pay more, for some it's being on the cutting edge of the latest and greatest. Some people have jobs or are in situation wherein their lives or others lives depend on it. Demanding or harsh environments play a factor as well. Then there's collecting as a factor too.

An excellent review! Between the written and the photos I learned a lot. What a beast this thing is!

Looks like it's built to conduct some heat out of the bezel. It's a throw king from the photos. I'll have to follow the link to see the actual price.

Lionheart and lioncub, cool play on lithium ion. The Chameleon describes it's modularity.

Gladius is cool name also, implies weaponry. There was a modded m*g a few years back called The Torch. There were videos of it lighting fires, with it's beam!

I don't have any pics, but I still have my light. It lives by my bedside, with it's trusty green tritium up, for locating it and the switch!

It's been years since I was here, or on any light forum. I had to get away from the temptation to keep buying lights. Over the next few weeks I'll be looking around to see what's new.

My collection is the same, haven't sold or lost a thing, knock in Ti! I'm taking a big bite to catch up, that's for sure, especially trying to do the same on CPF as well.

Hope to see some old names...

Thanks, half-watt! I like what I see and read about these.

Wow! He's touring again? Does this mean a new album as well? As I clicked into this thread, Pros and Cons of Hitchiking started on my CD player. Saw the "In The Flesh" tour at the start of this century, it was awesome! Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun!!

I'd think any type of colored light would do, but one that appeared "pink" would be best.

And you have me pulling out Animals as well as hearing Eric Cartman say the subject line of this thread...  8)

I've rotated the two cell lights a bit lately. Went with the A2 for a while, then the VB-16 three watt. Haven't carried a two cell in a few weeks now. Still carry an Orb Raw or NS around in pocket.

The beloved PDIII has problems now. The piston won't push in right much of the time. Sometimes the light won't work at all. It's got a stainless tube insided the body that is coming out. I miss the thing, and should be more serious about getting it fixed.

So I've carried the HDS U60 and LionCub lately. I love all these lights!

This is something I was hoping to see. I've been so out of the loop, don't even log in to the Net much anymore. Last I saw, there was something going on and things didn't seem to be panning out for these lights, at least not as planned.

So the T is tactictal? What's the P? Anyone know the LED type? Probably the answers are all over this forum and others. I just don't get around much anymore.

No tailstanding with the Novas?

Thanks for sharing.

I watched from the very first episode. The show was awesome the first few seasons, but slipped in later years. Still a great show, but not what it used to be.

Although the last episode could have been worse, it wasn't very good. Floundering would be the word. Too many things left unresolved and too much wasted time. I'd have rather the last scene be Tony by the pool, watching the ducks, full circle.

I'm betting there will be a movie or something, at least the ending leaves that possibility open.

Sorry for your loss. I too would have chosen the chance for life. You two were lucky to have each other. It hurts, I know.

Another great set of pics, Ernie! I own a couple of second gens, and one day I'll be getting an updated model. Of the two now, they are the easiest for a non-flashaholic to pick up and use. And they'll do dim to the dimmest.

Didn't realize this latest batch had optional battery tubes. I knew about the strobe and SOS function.
