Do you what's the estimated life of the Osram Ostar 1000 Lumen 15watt LED?

A quick google search listed 20,000 - 50,000 hours life expectancy.

Not unless someone wants to send me there $900 light and then it really makes no sense as they use the same LED + the same reflector. The outer mag reflector really is only there for appearance and to hold the Fraen reflector in place.

Using the MaxFlex's 750ma current table the lights should be real close. Bump the MaxFlex up to 1amp and it is noticeable brighter. If you wanted to show off bump the output up to 1200ma for bursts. Also these new MaxFlex's all have thermal protection which well is........COMPLETELY AWESOME!

Light has arrived!  Very happy with the output and the familiar user interface...  Workmanship is as usuall, Great...

Brighter ( on High )  than an M6 Incandescent. Not quite as much throw but more output...

If you are used to or familiar with  a Mr. Bulk User Interface this light will be very intuitive... Press = Low (which is about level 4 of LionHeart (4th table) )  Press + click is forced High which is brighter than an M6. Remembers last level...

Same user setable tables and functions as the Bulk Lights. The best interface available to date... (Maxflex)

1 hour + (although Hot) on high.  Runtime on Low and High are very desirable... 3 X 17670 Lith Ion for non memory battery life...

THIS IS A GREAT LED, LIGHT TO OWN.   GO GET IT!

Lips I'm glad you received everything OK :)

The Ostars do run hot as you can see. I set the MaxFlex's up with thermal limiting set to 60 Degrees Celsius if this threshold is reached the light should throttle down to level 3.

Mac

I've been using this light everyday since it arrived.

It has retired my 1D Wa1111 incandescent light!

For short to medium range this multilevel light has an awesome user-interface combined with the output of a wall of light that would put the surefire U2 or the TW4 to shame... Runtimes that are tops in the 3 x 17670 arena and the led color is very nice. I had the light "back-down" to level 3 once when it got hot on extended runtimes, very nice. The heatsink definitely wicks the heat away to the body (more so to the switch area than the head of the light)...

The Ostar-Maxflex needs to be fitted to the KL3 or K2 Head for ultra cool combo...

I hope more parts arrive as this is one great tool of a light for say inspections or whatever. You guys and gals will love this one... Only con I can see is no super low-levels but this is a powerhouse of a light anyway...

When I get time I'll have to shoot this out with the U2 and the M6 and the Rop lights...

Mac

Question:   Did you use locktight on the Head threads as it is on there for sure! I wanted to use a couple of other 2 inch head designs I have. Any tricks to getting this thing aloose!

They are Epoxied on so you cannot crush the reflectors.

They are Epoxied on so you cannot crush the reflectors. You may be able to heat the head up slightly and use a strap wrench. I didn't anticipate anyone taking the light apart.

If your referring to the Dead Torch pack, then Yes :) Thats pack under a 3 amp load barely put out over 11 volts. Maybe the charger is over heating the pack or something.....I'd check into it if I where you.

Na,  I was talking about getting in front of the line of arewethereyetdad at any cost!

I think that pac was acting up from the beginning as I don't remember it dimming from use to use... Who knows, I'll keep an eye on it. The charger I'm using has an over heating leed but it may be useless...

Anyway I hear the 1200 lumen Ostars are comming out soon. Hope your having luck getting parts as I love this light!
