OK - I've had this light for about a week now, and I must say it is a bit brighter than your average light. It puts light everywhere! Great tool to have indoors and out! Because it doesn't have a "warm-up" time like an HID, you get instant fun! Haven't tried any of the smaller wattage bulbs yet - but why would I? ;)
Another note: I obtained the "turnkey" package which included the multivoltage charger - great for charging the "Torch" battery pack, but as a bonus, it can used to charge my Mag85 (9AA) battery pack and the batteries for my ACRO X990!
-
Red flutes, full turnkey package here at the compound....
I believe I had one of the first ones shipped....
Same 'ol pic, on the right....

No pic, sorry but very happy to check in with mine. Pewter, grooved, turn key package. Look folks, this the THE definition of WOW light. My friends have literally said WTF is THAT!! HID is great, and I love it, but this is a serious toy, and one every flashaholic should aspire to.
-
One here! Grooved pewter turnkey package. This is the light that puts the biggest smile on my face. :D
-
Here's mine with a new crown

So how many ya got? ;) I'll put you at the top of the list!
Question - how many Torches were made?

Do I count :) I'm Flatered!
Mac, uh, yeah, I'd say you count! :D
-
Gonna put be putting the light on the charger in a few hours for some night-time fun!
-
You guys make me soooo jealous. I'm so far down on Mac's "to do" list, that he may never get that far, and, has suggested same. :'(
Well, here's hoping, and, enjoy! :)

LOL, the fun is tomorrow night over here. All those dad's walking the kiddies with their little energizers... I'm gonna see how many "Whoas" I can get! :D
-
Can't wait to here the stories - I've been trying to find my Maglite belt clip holder - again this light is a great sleeper - even with the added flutes/fins. Especially when you say - "oh there must be something wrong with YOUR Maglite - perhaps it needs batteries?"
Last night, I didn't get to play as long as I wished - but hopefully I will have some more downtime later this week!
-
Torch compare to the ever so popular SureFire A2: :laughing7:

:BUMP: to the top! So - any new Torch news?
-
I have one, just got it from Mac. Mine's silver.
It puts out an amazing amount of light from such a small package. It gets warm fast :) My Mag85 has a smaller spot, but the Torch just blows it away in terms of overall light output.
A very well done mod from Mac!

Hi kinzli! Welcome to F-F and the Torch fanatic discussion thread!
-
I'm hoping to get a Torch from MAC sometime soon....and in the meantime, Mad Maxabeam is making his version of it. Not sure exactly how it is different, other than a side switch. MAC's looks so sweet!

Member Kinzli Posted a cool Vid.

Great video and great exposure for the flashlight community!

Hey Mac - on the next Torch Run - any differences regarding the batteries/voltage/etc?
-
The next batch of Torches are using pre-made welded packs. The performance of the Welded packs was tested on a CBAII and perform the same as the originals.

That light is slick Mack. I cant believe it sets stuff on fire, because it looks so cool... :laughing7:
-
I'm jealous. Wanna sell her now? LOL!
-
Yep, the Torch is aptly named because it really can set stuff on fire. It is literally one hot light! 8)

He he, the new Torch arrived before New Years, and its stunning in person. :naughty: Beam is snow-white, whiter than my other Torch, and the long crenelated bezel does not affect the beam all that much.
This is truly a piece of (mean) flashlight art that Mac has created, and he understands so well that the design and looks of a light may not matter as much as pure performance, but they DO matter. This Torch captures that philosophy in spades. :occasion14:
Thanks, Mac!! :woot:
-
The Torch was a MONSTER hit last night as we celebrated New Year's with another family here at our house. The kids, especially, were so excited to watch me burn newspaper as well as light up the night sky BIG-TIME! This light remains easily the most exciting and powerful light in my collection.

a big ole bump for the TORCH!

Well, sadly for me, I won't be a member here anytime soon. :'( When Mac closed the original thread and started the new one for The Torch, I pretty much gave up on getting one. I was on the original "list" but figured if I had to snag one when offered on the new thread, I'd never make it. So, I spent a whole crap load of money on my knife collection and then what happens? Mac sends me a PM offering a Torch. I just couldn't do it, not enough cash. >:(
Oh well, you guys carry on with your fantastic infrared/visible photon blasters! 8) I'll just piddle around with my puny XR-E/SSC project.

I'm waiting for it to arrive but was lucky enough to buy one of the last 3 silver finned Torches offered on CPF. Should look just like WAVE_PARTICLE's Torch. The original owner is in the UK. I'm so excited!

The wait is hard. I'm glad there is so much pride in ownership with these lights. The Torch will be the pride of my collection! :)

Yes, it will be.

I've been busy over the last week - lots of gatherings due to birthdays and nice warm weather....
Among other lights, I broke out the Torch - always a crowd pleaser - I first undertain them with a few Lux III lights - build up to the Mag85 (with new 3" head) - but for the finale - I break out the Torch (too bad the Chrome 3" will not fit [yet?]) - nothing like seeing the look on their faces when the Torch lights up everything in blazen glory! Afterward, I set some newspaper ablaze and blow the smoke off the top of the Torch like it was a match - CLASSIC!
-
Excellent, Geo. Another group of people who've been Torched. :D Always the highlight of the beam competition. Kind of like the grand finale at a fireworks show. 8)
-
Mine came yesterday! :D The darkness parted like the red sea.
Question: Did Mac run these with an engraved tail cap as an option? Mine is plain and that would have made it even more special.
